A smile, a servant’s heart, and a willingness to help. That’s Jordan Esterline.

The 31st Annual Heart of Gold Awards, hosted by the Community Foundation of Whitley County, is an annual celebration of the people who make our community stronger through their kindness, generosity and willingness to give their time. This year, Columbia City Connect Executive Director Niki Keister nominated First Friday Committee Leader Jordan Esterline for his dedication to bringing people together and making a difference in our community.

Jordan was honored as a 2026 Heart of Gold Award recipient.

What makes Jordan extraordinary isn’t simply the number of hours he volunteers, but the heart he brings to every opportunity.

For nearly a decade, Jordan has been a driving force behind Columbia City’s First Fridays. As one of the original committee members who helped create one of our community’s favorite traditions, he now leads the committee by encouraging volunteers, connecting with community organizations, and helping shape its continued success.

Whether he’s welcoming vendors at First Fridays check-in, leading a committee meeting, or lending a hand behind the scenes, Jordan does it all with kindness, patience and a genuine smile.

His relentlessly positive attitude is contagious. He makes people feel appreciated and turns even the busiest moments into something enjoyable. Volunteers don’t just work alongside Jordan—they leave encouraged by him.

His enthusiasm is contagious.

His kindness is genuine.

Through countless acts of kindness, Jordan has strengthened our community, inspired others to give back, and touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know and serve alongside him.

We’re grateful for all Jordan gives to First Fridays and to Columbia City. Congratulations, Jordan, on this well-deserved Heart of Gold Award!
