DESCRIPTION:Welcome to our first Quilting Class Series! Pick from one or all three of these beginner classes. Each class will be $25 or register for all three for $70. All classes will require you to pre-register at least 3 days before event. Please read carefully below for class information and supplies you will need to bring with you. \n#1. Quilting Basics \nTuesday\, October 29th\, 6-8pm \nSupplies to bring: \n-Cutting mat \n-Clear acrylic ruler \n-Rotary cutter \n-Sewing machine with a 1⁄4” foot \n-Pins or clips \n-1-2 fat quarters or 1 yard fabric of 2 different fabrics of your choice with a contrasting thread color to practice cutting and a 1⁄4” Seam allowance \n*iron/wool mat-Not necessary\, feel free to bring if you want \n*Choose fabric you love. This will become a mat for either your sewing machine\, end table or you may want to make a set of placemats later. \nWe will learn: \n-Cutting fabric \n-How to use a ruler and cutting mat for accurate cuts \n-1⁄4” Seam \n-The majority of quilt patterns ask for 1⁄4” seam allowance. \n-Pressing \n-The importance of pressing vs ironing \n#2. Basting a quilt & Machine Quilting \nTuesday\, November 19th\, 6-8pm \nSupplies to bring: \n-Cutting mat \n-Clear acrylic ruler \n-Rotary cutter \n-Sewing machine with a 1⁄4” foot\, any accessories to your machine for quilting \n-Marking tool(s) \n-Pins or clips \n-Project piece from the 1st class \n-Batting and backing fabric for the project. At least 2-4” larger than the project \n-Basting spray or safety pins \n*iron/wool mat-Not necessary\, feel free to bring if you want \nWe will baste together the project showing basting spray and safety pins. I use spray the most. \nMachine quilting can be done on any domestic sewing machine. Many machines come with a metal guide for quilting straight lines. Also\, you can measure and mark lines with a tool or different types of pens that disappear or iron away. \nI will share a website I use to calculate how much binding you will need. Then you will have that information before the next class-Binding! \n#3. They said they wish they had coffee mugs\, stuffed animals\, or shirts that show they are part of this community.\n-Kids and Adult pajamas (sizes will be listed soon)\n-Slippers\n-Hoodies\n-Gift cards to Bones Theater\, Paiges Crossing\, Mc Donald’s & Brewha\n-Moms love EVERYTHING coffee & caffeine\n-Paw Patrol\, Dianosaurs\, Puzzles & Baby Dolls & accessories \nThey also have a pantry of items that are ALWAYS in need of:\ntoilet paper\, paper towels\, Kleenex\, trash bags\, laundry soap\, disinfecting wipes\, canned fruit\, canned meat\, green scrubbies\, Cold medicine for children & adults\, Children’s Tylenol & Ibuprofen\, antibiotic cream and Qtips.\nThe kid’s wish list for the pantry is: anything they can take for a snack in their backpacks. Uncrustables\, fruit cups\, bags of chips\, Lunchables\, cheese sticks\, Gatorades/Primes. \nIf you’d like to help\, you can wrap your Present and label it with gender and age.\nIf you bring a Gift & a Pantry item\, (before 8pm) you get to go through the Jail twice!!!\nDON’T MISS THIS!!!\nOur plan is to fill up the back of an M35a2 Deuce and a Half military truck with toys and items for those in need this Christmas!\nWE NEED YOUR HELP!!!\n(If you can’t make the event\, let us know\, and we can pick your items up in Columbia City and most of Fort Wayne.)

DESCRIPTION:The Christmas Eve Candy Free Giveaway will be the same as last year\, hosted by the Columbia City Fire Department.  \n🎄The Event will take place on Christmas Eve “Tuesday” from 6-8pm at the Courthouse Square.  \n🚗 It will be a Drive-thru Event. Attendees need to remain in their vehicles\, enter the designated lane from Chauncey Street (West side of Courthouse)\, and receive candy on Van Buren (North side of Courthouse). Cones will mark the path.  \n🎅 Santa will be in attendance waiving at attendees and will speak to all children that stop by to say hello before his magical trip back to the North Pole.  \n🍭 This continues the 140+ year tradition dating back to the 1880’s! Each child will receive a 1lb bag of candy and an orange. Past participants remember traveling from Warsaw by horse and buggy to get their candy because that WAS their Christmas present.  \n🚒 Thanks to the Columbia City Fire Department for putting on this annual family tradition in a safe manner each and every year! \n💰 Thanks to the Bills Family\, Community Foundation\, and many others for your help in funding this seasonal event! Donations can be made to the Columbia City Fire Department – Candy Fund.
