This holiday season, the Community Foundation of Whitley County has partnered with local non-profits to make the season a little brighter for seniors in our community. The Foundation is joining with the Woodlands Senior Activity Center and One Community to distribute Senior Santa Sacks.

“When we look around Whitley County, we see many seniors who are isolated in their homes and unable to go out in public,” said September McConnel, Foundation Chief Executive Officer. “By collection items for Santa Sacks, we are hoping to make the holidays just a little bit brighter for seniors in our community who receive meal deliveries from local organizations.”

The Community Foundation’s goal is to put together Senir Santa Sacks for distribution through meal delivery programs offered by One Community in South Whitley and Woodlands Senior Activity Center in Columbia City.

The public can help by gathering these NEW items in a holiday box or bag and delivering them to the Foundation office:

  • Large print books
  • Large print puzzle books
  • Lip balm
  • Hand lotion
  • Tissues
  • Socks
  • Stor bough holiday treats
  • 100-300 piece puzzles

All donations must be delivered to the Foundation before Thursday, December 4th.

The designated items can be dropped off at the Foundation office at 1171 E. Woods Way, Columbia City between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Foundation’s Community Awareness Committee will prepare the Senior Santa Sacks for distribution to the partner organizations.
