This week, Columbia City celebrated an exciting step forward for downtown and our community with the ribbon cutting for the new Blue River Trail extension! Thanks to a Next Level Trails grant from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the trail now stretches all the way from downtown to the CCHS property, making it easier than ever for residents and visitors to enjoy walking, running, and biking along our beautiful river corridor.
This extension is a huge win for our community. It connects key parts of town, encourages outdoor activity, and provides a safe, scenic route for families, students, and visitors alike. It’s great for downtown and great for our community!
The Blue River Trail has long been a beloved feature of Columbia City, and this extension continues the City’s commitment to building recreational opportunities, enhancing connectivity, and supporting healthy lifestyles.
Residents are encouraged to check out the new section of the trail and enjoy all it has to offer, from peaceful walks to fun family outings. This project demonstrates how smart planning, community support, and state partnerships can come together to create something that benefits everyone.
Here’s to many miles of walking, biking, and enjoying all that Columbia City has to offer!
