Kids having fun at First Fridays, Columbia City

Columbia City, IN – September 9, 2024Columbia City, IN – September 9, 2024 – Columbia City Connect’s September First Friday Touch-a-Truck followed by Movie on the Square proved to be a resounding success, celebrating the vibrant spirit of our community through a series of engaging activities and local highlights.

September First Friday was marked by a strong sense of community, with various local organizations coming together to create a memorable Touch-a-Truck experience. Notable contributions came from the Whitley County Highway Department, Columbia City Police Department, Northeastern REMC, and Columbia Township Fire Department. These organizations played a key role, bringing an impressive array of big trucks that captivated both children and adults. Attendees had the opportunity to climb into and interact with these vehicles, adding a hands-on, interactive element to the evening.

Local businesses and restaurants also joined in the First Fridays Explore the Shops, showcasing their offerings through special First Fridays features and downtown restaurants ran First Friday specials. The food trucks and vendors provided a delectable variety of culinary options, adding to the festive atmosphere and highlighting the diverse food culture within the community.

A highlight of the evening was the partnership with the City of Columbia City’s Movie on the Square, which successfully brought residents together for a film under the stars. Despite some breezy weather, the event’s charm and the communal spirit created a delightful experience for attendees.

The evening’s entertainment was further enhanced by live music by Jailbreak. The band’s lively set provided an energetic soundtrack, encouraging guests to dance and enjoy the night.

Overall, the September First Friday event was a testament to the strength and unity of the Columbia City community. The participation and support from residents, businesses, and local organizations made the night a celebration of local pride and togetherness.
